Rotate tool: The rotation tool is one of the scene operation tools used for key framed
animation. It is located on the scene tools palette and can be selected by using keyboard short-cut key 8.
The rotation tool is similar to the
skew tool in that you really only want to use it for two things. (1) Positioning the green
pivot point used for referencing the rotation angle. (2) Copying or deleting just a rotation keyframe from a
frame containing other types of
keyframes.
But when you are animating rotation parameters you should use the
transform tool to set rotation keys.
Here is an additional tip. The skew pivot and the rotation pivot are the same green
pivot point so you can only have one set
pivot point per element either for rotation or for skewing. You may want to use a separate parent
peg element for an element where you need to have seperate fixed pivot points for both rotations and skewing, that way you don't interfere with the rotational
pivot point setting of the attached drawing element. You would then set your rotation keys on the element itself and the skewing keys on its attached parent
peg element. Or you can just use the transform tools temporary (blue)
pivot point for setting your skew pivot reference when you are setting your skew keys. Just remember that you can't move the green
pivot point for either rotations or skewing after you start keyframing without impacting all previously set rotation or skew keys.
