onion skinThis is a featured page

onion skin: The concept of onion skin comes from the fact that at one time very thin paper was made from actual onion skin so that it was translucent and useful for seeing drawings on the pages below for tracing etc. Onion skinning is a feature in TBS that is used to facilitate drawing in between poses. The in between is the current drawing and the two drawings that it is sandwiched between are referred to as the previous drawing and the next drawing. TBS allows for you to have as many as three previous images and three next images visible as you work on the current in between drawing.

You can set the display color of the previous drawing and the next drawing for onion skinning. This is a helpful feature because it is easier to identify the order of the poses when doing your in betweening. This is certainly not a must have feature, but definitely a nice customization to the workflow. I often find in onion skinning without color differentiation, that when I am going back to put in the in between drawings, I get confused about my pose order and have to flip back and forth between frames to refresh my understanding. This is less of a problem in TBS with different previous and next colors on your onion skin display.
