| SJ7 | Question on Properties Dialog Box shown above | layering elements | 1 | Jul 22 2008, 12:26 PM EDT by JK-TGRS | |||

Is the "Properties" Dialog box shown above from ToonBoom v4?
The only similar dialog box I can find under Scene Planning is the one on the right, with no name, but with a "Properties" and "Cells" tabs. I'm assuming this is the same? A simple, short flash example would make this whole area much clearer. ToonBoom should update the Der-Der tutorial to include this...

I have to be honest, using the ToonBoom vectorize import feature is a painful experience. With a complex image you seem to end up with a lot of trial and error.
If you want good vectorized images (e.g. of photos you have) then try VectorMagic. It's default options produce much better results than ToonBoom and take half the time. And no, I don't work for them.

Hello, I'm just considering TBS4, and have an all-important question. I've been using Adobe AfterEffects, and it has a function called "animated masks". You can construct and rig a puppet out of basic parts. These pars can then be morphed-- arms and legs can be distorted a little for foreshortening effects, etc. This uses bezier curves and points similar to the type Illustrator uses.
In the demonstrations, TBS puppets are always shown in profile views. I'm wondering if a similar effect exists in TBS. Adobe AE is a bitmap program, and you can't scale up or down without image quality suffering terribly.

If I want to add something on one of the characters after it's drawn and placed in the scene, like a hat or eyelashes, I know to draw it in the drawing mode. Then I go into camera view and have to size it and put it where I want it. I tried to do that but got mixed up on what tools to use for this. Are there any tricks for this?? Thanks

I added a background to my characters who are singing...and all of a sudden their mouths aren't synched with the music. It seems that the mouths start a few secs after the voices started. When I take off the background, it's perfect. Did I do something wrong..or not set up something right?? Again, I'm a newbie... lol

If I'm working on a project that has 3 characters, what's the best way to work on this or to save them. Should I be in the same exposure sheet or start a new one for each character. Thank you for your help

Is it possible to duplicate a mouth that's singing, then alter it to make it smaller to put on another character? Or do I have to do a separate mouth for each character. thank you

I do work in Final Cut which is a video editing program where I can place markers where the beat is. Is there anything like this in TBS? This way I can have the characters dancing to the beat.

I draw a mouth on the exposure sheet, but when I try to bring it below to the static table, it doesn't show up. Am I doing something wrong? Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't. I'm new at this so maybe I'm doing something inadvertently

In fact, I can watch it while I'm in toon boom....but when I export it out, only the square bin comes out with no mouth eyes or nose. Can anyone figure out what I'm doing wrong? THANKS!

I'd like to create a "pencil layer" and then later go over it with ink and then just be able to hide the pencils. Is there a way to have multiple layers on one element? If this is in the manual, I'd love to know what to search on because I have searched and googled as well. Maybe I'm just not using the proper terminology. Thanks!

Collaboration is the stuff that makes a wiki grow. But collaboration doesn't require a collaborator to have to write long pages or even paragraphs. It can be just adding a few words to clarify a topic. Or adding an extra sentence or two to add additional information on a topic. Or it can be adding a keyword tag to an existing page to help others to be able to find a topic more easily in their searches. Or it can be adding a link to a page to help interconnect related subjects. Collaboration in a wiki is like stacking coins, each coin in the stack might not seem like it can buy very much by itself, but if we stack enough coins together it becomes a significant chunk of money.
