Is it possible to duplicate a mouth that's singing, then alter it to make it smaller to put on another character? Or do I have to do a separate mouth for each character. thank you

I am assuming that you are asking if you create a lip synced sequence with a mouth element and want to reuse that sequence on a different character or a reduced size version of that element how would you do this? This is a perfect application for using your library and creating a library template of the mouth element animation of your lip sync action. If you place this template into your global library it is available to be reused in a different scene or even a different project. When you use a template in TBS it is a copy of the template and isn't directly linked back to the original template in the library, so you can modify the element as need during reuse and not worry that you changed the source template etc. The resize can be done one of a couple of ways. If it is a single element you can use the "reposition all drawings" tool which is located under the drawing select tool icon on the drawing tools palette. This tool lets you reposition and or scale all cells in an element all at the same time. Or, you can just use the scene operations select tool to resize the element in camera view when you place it in the scene. The Drawing view approach changes the actual size of the element while the camera view approach only changes the element size for that scene. You actually could use a combination of both approaches. If you wanted to have the same mouth element used twice in the same scene you can also do that either by making a clone of the mouth element or a copy of the mouth element. The clone uses less memory but has some restrictions. The copy is totally independent. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Where do you recommend to make changes to the mouths...in the drawing mode or camera mode. This is the part that gets me soooooo confused. I don't know which view to work in for different things. If you can tell me in simple form, maybe I won't have so many confusions!!! LOL ;)

Drawing view is your drawing board. Camera view is your animation stand. You draw on your drawing board and you composite picture elements for filming in camera view. So to draw your mouth cells use drawing view and to add your mouth to a character you can do that in camera view where you composite the parts of the character together. I often pre-assemble cut out characters in drawing view but the actual rigging is done in camera view.
